            All insurers have to give unlimited EU cover at RTA equiv
Almost all insurers allow you to have comprehensive cover in Europe but it varies both on the number of days and if its built in/ free or if you have to pay for it.0 -

            interesting......I thought the point of EU directives was to ensure that if a car/driver combo was legal in one EU country then it would be legal in all EU countries.
Whilst, as you say, DOC isn't compulsory I'm thinking that *if* I do have it then the EU directives should mean I have it EU wide0 -

I've seen at least one Insurer (Admiral from memory) who specifically exclude DOC from the EU cover0 -

It is to ensure certain basic standards. Anything that goes above and beyond those standards are purely discretionary and can have territorial limits.0
