leaving children on their own?

I guess you know how confident your children are and its up to you to calculate the risks of whether its better to leave them or to cancel work.
Personally at that age I wouldnt have left mine for that length of time.
Even when dad was there although asleep I think its a totally different situation to leave them totally alone....if there had of been a problem then dad could have been woken up if needed....in the situation you plan to leave them in tomorrow you are a 30 min journey away...
Is there perhaps a neighbour who you could ask to at least listen out for them or that they can go to if they need?frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I will leave them for up to an hour but feel uncomfortable doing more - tough decision, do you have a neighbour you know well enough to have on standby perhaps?
No neigbours we havnt lived here for that long0 -
I am not sure of the law regarding leaving children unattended, but if there are no legal issues I would say go by your instincts. You know your children (we don't), do you think they would be ok for about three and a half hours? From your post I am getting the feeling you are not confident they will be ok, in which case it may be better to bring them with you if possible. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I think 9 & 10 for 3.5 hours is too long, but I don't know your kids.
Is there no where they could go and visit? Mates houses? Relatives? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Do you trust your children to be alone for that long? Mine would murder each other! If they are sensible and have contact numbers, know the rules about cooking etc it could be ok. Is there a trusted neighbour who could be on standby? Is there any way they can come with you?
I have sent a message asking my client if I could bring them.
They get on very well, know not to cook etc
They have managed for longer with dad up stairs asleep
They know how to call me, not to answe the phone.
I know they can cope, im just concerned about getting into trouble really.0 -

So if there was a problem at home who would your children contact....would that be you?
See I think thats not a good fall back plan as if there was an emergency you would want to be back as soon as possible and potentially need to cancel your meeting
If there was someone who was near who they trusted and you trusted then I would say it may be easier to leave them with someone "watching from afar"...but if you havent lived in the area long and the girls know no one then its very difficult IMOto leave them on their own for such a length of timefrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
