Sky and getting a dish?

Good morning was hoping some of you could advise, I’m not sure if there is any thing that can be done with this issue im having with Love digital and Sky.
I moved into a flat last year and took out Sky (tv, Phone and Broadband). The place I have moved to is a ground floor. Its not a tower block or any thing in total there are 6 homes in the block.
When my sky was installed they set the TV up to a connection that was already in the living room (small white areal box). I have read that they will install to a communal dish If the property has 12 or more homes.
I was under the impression that I was getting my own dish as im sure this is what was said when I ordered. At the time they did this I never noticed as this was all done on the day that I moved in. (forward Planner me lol)
So no with this set up I can record 2 shows and if I do record I cant change the station. But paying full price for the service which they can lower when I last asked.
I have spoke with sky about this in the past about getting a dish, which they said is fine but would have to contact love digital to do this.
I explained im a private tenet to them and have permission from the landlord for this installation etc. They have now turned round and said they need that in writing which is not a problem but they want a payment of £150+ as well as £2 per meter of cable used to do it.
They stated that even at the time of installation they would not have provided the dish because of the written permission and other reason.
I contacted sky about this and they have just turned round and said there is nothing they can do….
I don’t see why I should have to pay this for some thing that should have been done at the time.
So is there any thing that can be done? Im now thinking of leaving them but trust where I live is not in a fiber area which is what I wanted from the start…..

There must have already been a dish or you wouldn't get any service at all! You can't get Sky via an aerial or any kind.
It sounds as if your block has a older communal dish which provides only a single feed to each apartment. A lot of flat dwellers are stuck with limited Sky+ for this reason. To use the full PVR functions of Sky+ (i.e. to record on one channel while watching another) you need a twin feed from the LNB to the box.
Yes, of course they will require the freeholder's permission to do the additional cabling work.
It seems that you failed to advise them that there was an existing communal system when you ordered-if so it's a different process in an apartment building. Many such buildings forbid the erection of individual dishes under their leaseholds or STA's, for obvious reasons. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The crazy thing is it seems every one has there own dish.... I just don's see why I should have to pay full price for them to come and sort it out.0

You're not going to win with Sky or Love Digital.
Cut your losses and employ a local CAI aerial installer.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

But you did not advise them that it was an apartment install. In such circumstances you must get the freeholder's permission to install an individual dish, and demonstrate that to Sky. It seems that the installer, on realising, made the decision simply to use the existing communal dish, and hooked you up to that.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Oh so there are other people that can do this I don't have to go through these guys.0

Yes, any installer can put you in a dish and cabling, it doesn't have to be Sky.
But if you are going via the communal dish then they'll need the access and permission as already outlined. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Its all a bit strange.... I would guess they another service will charge the same or close to the money these guys are saying.
I guess its the only option.0 -
Impossible to say without a survey. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Phone sky and ask for 3 Multirooms.
That should ensure a new installation.
Then cancel within cooling period and see if they want to remove the external equipment.
A bit drastic but in theory possible.0 -
