Sold CPW contract thinking it was direct with o2

I would appreciate any advice on how to approach a complaint to Carphone Warehouse & to alert other people to the scam I have fallen for. I was phoned last month 'on behalf on O2' who I am currently with offering me a free handset upgrade. I was told the condition was that I had to pay £22/month. I was currently only paying around £18/month which included a friends & family discount. I told the caller that I was happy with my tariff & didn't want to pay any more than that. She said ok, to get the phone for the same price I had to reduce my data allowance from 500mb to 100mb. I thought this seemed ok as I usually only use wifi connection in the house anyway. So I agreed & she said the handset would be sent from 'cars n phones' in the next couple of days. That turned into 2 weeks due to delivery mishaps. I got the phone, which wasn't as great as I expected, but as it was free & I assumed at no extra cost, I wasn't all that concerned. My previous phone was an old iphone 3, but now it wouldn't work properly, I assumed as i was on decreased data. So thought I would keep this new phone for a while & maybe treat myself to a new iphone in the future.
It wasn't until I got my first bill on the new tariff yesterday, which was at £22. I went online to find out why it was more - due to an 0800 call or something, which was fair enough. But when looking online I realised I was on a different tariff, with less minutes, texts etc than my old one & my friends & family discount was nowhere to be seen.
After attempting to get through to o2 customer services unsuccessfully, I resolved to using the online chat yesterday & again today. Eventually I have found out that I have a whole new contract through carphone warehouse & for this reason my discount doesn't apply.
I'm really annoyed that I have been tricked into a new tariff & now can't get help from o2 as it's a cpw tariff. Researching online, it appears I will continue to be passed from one company to the next. If the original caller had said they were from CPW I would never have proceeded with any deal. I have been with O2 for nearly 12 years & always been very happy with the service.
Really, what I want is something similar to my old tariff that I can use in an iphone & with my discount. I wish I had never agreed to anything & will in future always go into the store.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciate with how to deal with cpw.
Thanks in advance.

This happened with me. I called up CPW and they recorded the call and saw the salesperson had lied! They then did what the salesperson told me. SOrted. Be persistent!0

If there is misrepresentation, you can have the contract cancelled.

If CPW did indeed say they were phoning 'on behalf of O2' as stated by the OP instead of 'from O2' then surely that would be correct, as CPW sell airtime contracts on behalf of the networks?0
