;60268873]I do check at the end of the month. I dont have time to check every single transaction as it comes in.
It's a bit of a difficult situation. I don't think the bank should just amend the amount without any kind of notice, especially if they realised you had already withdrawn the money, but at the same time I would think it's the account holder's responsibility to be diligent and keep an eye on what comes in and goes out of their account. If someone defrauded you, for example, you would want to know about that as soon as possible and not at the end of the month. But of course there are many situations where the sender chooses how much to donate or pay off and the recipient has no way of knowing, because there is no communication apart from the FP itself.
Then the recipient has no choice but to assume that the statement is correct.
This is not one of them however, as the OP contacted the customer to ask if they had paid extra. What will your verse be?

After I checked several days after transferring the money out and realised the amount was wrong.0 -
So if you have many transactions coming in just transfer 45 euro less from the next one and the overdraft is repaid.
By the way OP you have not proved one iota that the bank made an error or modified your statement as per your first post - have you spoken to them?0 -

Indeed not. All of the OP's assumptions are based on balance of the account rather than the transactions, which appear to be accurate.

I really dont know what some of you are trying to imply here....
Lets try again...
Day 1 - Credit goes in for 7083E. Statement online says 7083E credit balance 7085E. I transfer out 7080E.
Day 3- I check invoice and it was was for 7038E. Phone customer to ask them what they transferred.
Day 5 - Customer confirms they transferred correct amount of 7038E. Check statement online again. Entry from day 1 now reads 7038E credit. But now balance after transfer out is -40E.

Yes, I "get it". I understand your story.
Your numbers seem to be constantly changing. I "get it".
Follow your bank's complaints procedure. There isn't a lot else you can do. No one here can help you.
Someone sent x to your bank account. x was received in to your bank account. You expected x and got x.
What are you after? A bit of compo?0 -
Further proof that this forum is populated by people who come on here to blow off a bit of steam and start an argument rather than try to be helpful. I should have known.

Have you ever thought that you simply made a mistake?
By that I mean in reading the online screen balance.
Why do I say this? If an error had occurred then the original amount would have been corrected out and another entry for the correct sum in ie 3 transactions.
Does your online statement show this?0 -

I hope my posts haven't come across that way. I wasn't trying to be unhelpful/judgemental, I just feel that it is the account holder's responsibility to keep track of what goes in and out of their accounts (or they should hire an accountant to whom they can delegate that task), but somebody has to keep track of the accounts!
CheersWhat will your verse be?

But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
