The New Mobile Phone Hunt

I'm looking for a new phone. My existing supplier isn't offering me a great upgrade deal to stay with them so I'm thinking of moving. I live in a fairly well connected area on all networks so I guess it all comes down to customer service and any cashback deals I can get.
So 3 simple questions:
1) If you were buying a new, on contract phone today, which network would you go with?
2) Are there any sites you'd happily recommend to get your handset from if they are offering better deals than the networks such as cashback/free gifts (eg Carphone Warehouse, Mobiles.co.uk, Affordable Mobiles etc.)
3) Anyone I should *really* avoid?
Thanks.

Do you actually need a new phone, or is it just force of habit to upgrade?
You could look at SIM only tariffs if you haven't done so yet, starting at your existing network. If it suits your usage level, you might go for Ovivo, which is actually free for a bundle of 150 min calls 150 texts and 400 MB data.0 -
1) The one that offers the best deal and provides an adequate signal in my places of interest.
2) If it's cashback (redemption) do your reserarch.
3) There are plenty of them. Check payment methods, location, contact details etc.0 -
Thanks Redux. It's not urgent but my phone is starting to show the signs of wear and tear so I could do with swapping it at some point.
Ovivo sounds interesting. Might look into them.0 -

So do you just join and pay nothing then .
But i see you need to pay £15 that is credited back . Presume if its free you can keep the credit until required .
I have someone asking the exact same as the OP .
I can answer the phone bit but the Ovivo free is not something i can explain clearly from the FAQS .
