Airsure item - tracking says delivered, buyer says the opposite

I sold two paintings to a woman in Australia two weeks ago and send them Airsure, thinking that was a better service as it tracks all the way and International Signed For wouldn't give me a copy of signature anyway.

Now the tracking says the parcel was delivered on the 25th, but the buyer says she hasn't had it. I don't know what to do, what are my rights? I sold through Etsy.com and payment was through Paypal. It's a great deal of money to me, I can't afford to lose it, but are Royal Mail likely to pay the compensation if the tracking says the parcel was delivered?

Another complication is that the same person has bought two more paintings and I'm loath to send them just in case she's trying it on!

    Highly unlikely

I don't know the rules for Etsy, but for Paypal you need to show online tracking with proof of delivery. You also need a signature if the order was £150 or more.

What does the Aus Post tracking say?

I've had the same for a letter to Canada. Recipient denies receipt and tracking (UK&CAN) says delivered. Haven't managed to sort it out yet.

This is the very reason why i don't use Airsure or Intl. Signed For. They're not reliable!

My Sister wanted to return something to the US a couple of weeks back and phoned R.mail to ask which service was recommended (she needed a signature the other end).
The guy on the phone said (not in so many words) - "None of 'em,.... signatures are not guaranteed".

No they aren't but for Airsure they aren't required, so there would never be one.

    its no secret
Is a signature taken on delivery?

When your mail is delivered, the item will be electronically scanned by the postal operative delivering it to confirm it has arrived. A signature is not taken, but an electronic delivery confirmation is used to update our tracking tool.

Can I get a copy of the signature taken on delivery?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide a copy of this signature. Your item is delivered to its destination by the registered postal service of that country and a signature will be taken at the delivery address. This will not necessarily be the signature of the addressee. This means the item is not left unattended or just posted through a letterbox. If no one is available to sign for the item, it will be retained by that country’s postal administration either for another delivery or for collection by the addressee. In the case of a claim, we will request proof of signature from the postal administration there but this cannot always be provided.

The Auspost site says the same - "Delivered"

I only chose Airsure because it tracks all the way, while Int'l signed for only tracks within the UK.

So, I have tracking, and both RM and Auspost say the parcel has been delivered. The total transaction was $200 US, less than £150, and the Airsure receipt shows the value at £120.

I have to send the other items that she bought, although I don't like doing so.

Are there any alternatives to Airsure/Int'l signed for????

I think it would be prudent to get to the bottom of this one before sending further items to the same person.

Have you asked her to confirm her full address, does that match the one you sent it to?

FWIW neither service guarantee any tracking outside of the UK, although Airsure is imho more reliable at doing so.

You will be covered in the event of an INR dispute although it would be wise to try and establish if something has gone awry.

So what about International Signed For?
The R.Mail guy on the phone didn't recommend this service either.
Why provide a service (a very expensive service at that) that doesn't guarantee a signature or proper tracking? :/
