  • There are some very selfish people on here ! That's all I can say - you are too lazy to count correct change in a bag - sod the the massive queue behind you!

I can't believe how backward UK banks are about change. I remember in Germany in the 90's even my small sub branch had a coin counting machine. You took in your bag of coins, they put them in the hopper and went about doing something else whilst it did its thing. The machine even packed the coins in a paper wrap tube when finished. Perhaps they had a different take on customer service i.e. offering a service the customer wanted as opposed to what they were told they could have.

Would you be prepared to pay for this service?
These machines cost money and only a small proportion of customers come in with large amounts of change.

My local Morrisons has one but charges 8% for using it.

Personally I would prefer to get a stash of coin bags (free!!!) from my bank and fill them in accordance with the instruction printed on each and every one and get full value for my coins.

Our local Morrisons charges 8% if you want to exchange your change for cash, but 0% if you want to exchange your cash for goods.

Ditto my local ASDA. Look out for self-service tills that have small trays to drop your coins into. It's a lot easier to use one of those than one where you have to put coins in a slot one at a time.

So if Morrissons and Asda charge 0% for spending in store........why not just pay at the check out with your bags of coins?

    Afterall it's your money.............................

Sorry Dalek, but boo hoo to the banks.
If it was my branch and they refused to accept whatever I wanted to deposit I'd dump them an go elsewhere (yes, even after 30 years of my business including lots of o/d charges, premium paid for services etc) I'd of course remind them of this potential 'loss' before I raised the 2 finger salute naturally, JIC they managed to understand they were losing someone who really DID pay their wages.

:rotfl:I used to love these customers when I first started out in my branch. People really are full of themselves thinking they are top dog and keeping the company in business singlehandedly.

They never actually had the guts to close their account though when I offered. Just walked out with their tail between their legs ;)

    Outstanding Mortgage £27,971
    Emergency Fund £62,100

So true, I used to get the account closure form out for them, and started to fill it out for them, but they never wanted to go ahead.

It's just a load of bluster really

I've always just used self service checkouts for this. You can put in as much as you like without holding anyone up.
