United Airlines - missed connection

Hi there!
Do you guys reckon it would be worth putting in a claim to UA for the following (in brief!)
Manchester to Montreal, with a transfer at Washington. airline staff kept us waiting at the plane door for 50 minutes to collect my 4 month old sons pram (which it turned out had been sent to baggage reclaim in error). This caused us to miss our connecting flight to Washington.
Cases made it onto the plane without us. Waited 14 hrs (overnight), for the next available flight. They did pay for taxis / hotel, but didn't have enough milk / nappies for baby as cases were on the plane!! Had to 'beg' for some from another hotel resident!!!!
TYIA xx

Not under any EU regs as the incident occured in the US causing you to be delayed on a flight from there to Canada0

Oh boo, I thought because it was part of the same journey from Manchester we might be covered :-(
Do you think it's worth it otherwise or won't they care that they left us without our cases (& therefore my boys necessities)?0 -
A claim to them would do no harm in any case for the pure inconveniance0
-
I thought it was a fairly big security issue to ensure bags never travelled without the passenger.0
-
In the UK it can be.0

Ah really? So maybe I should labour that point more than the delay?xx0

The airline will use the excuse that the luggage has been screened so is not a security risk. Which I suppose is true, but probably still a failure to adhere to rules.0
