Orange help
Options
Hi
Ok i closed my orange account about a year ago. I had to phone up 3 times to close it. I paid my last bill so assumed it was all sorted. I received a letter a couple of months later saying i owed £16. I phoned them and they said its because my account hadn't been closed properly between the 2nd/3rd time of trying. I was passed around the orange departments all saying i had to pay it. I explained that it was there fault it wasn't closed correctly as they said it was inputted onto the system wrong. The women i spoke to at the time said that the money owed would be cancelled and that my account was settled.
A few months down the line i moved and assumed it was all sorted. Anyways i checked my credit report on noddle for the first time only to see i had an outstanding payment of £16 from orange which i assume it effecting my credit score?. I called them and they said they have passed it to a collection agency DLC i think and they would sort it if i explained it to them. So i called them any to receive some abusive language and that i still owed to £16.
Has anyone had this happen to them? I don't really know what to do. I know its only £16 but i refuse to pay it as there the ones who cocked it up. I don't want this payment or non payment to show on my credit score and have an effect on it somewhere down the line. Can anyone advise what i can do?
Thanks James

As harsh as it sounds, you'll just have to grit your teeth and pay it, and forget about the entry being taken off your credit file.
It's legitimately been recorded. As you do owe £16.
Also, did you happen to cancel your direct debit with Orange after you thought you closed the account?0 -
Hi
Thanks for a quick reply. I did cancel my DD the first time i called to cancel it.
I was expecting a response of just pay itits just annoying.
thanks JB0 -
More than likely there was still £16 outstanding.
Word of advice: wait 2/3 months before cancelling a DD. !!!0 -
No thats the problem. They are trying to charge my for the account still being active between the 2nd/3rd time i tried to cancel. They have confirmed thats where this chage came from. So i'm basically i'm paying for the fact they didn't close the account properly.0

Did you request your PAC by any chance?0
