Galaxy S2 vs Galaxy S3 Mini
Hi I wonder if I could have some advice please as I'm going round in circles trying to work out if I would be worse off with a S3 mini instead of going for a S2.
It's my first smartphone and I'll be using it for calls, texts, photos, taking videos, some internet browsing such as facebook - no games or watching youtube etc.
Currently I'm on a Tmobile £9 sim only deal 500 mins, no data. I never use 500 mins more closer to 300.
Tesco mobile is offering the S2 at £17.50 pm, with £70 quidco, 500 mins, unltd texts, 1gb data.
Tmobile have offered me the S3 mini at £13 inc VAT - 300 mins, unltd texts, 1gb data.
Both 24 month contracts.
As it works out slightly cheaper I'm tempted to go for the S3 mini and looking at the technical specs it seems to be enough for what I want.
Any thought would be much appreciated

S3 Mini purely for the price. See if you can get them to drop the data to 750mb or the texts down and get it a bit cheaper.
Unless you want a better camera, then go for the S2. But tbh the S3 mini camera is fine.
As a first smartphone it's great. But see if they can offer anything cheaper. Also i recommend going to a store and playing around with the phone first to see if you like it.0 -
Consider ditching the restrictive 24 month contract and buy a phone outright then pair it with one of the plethora of fantastic 30 day commitment SIM only deals! The Orange San Diego has an amazing spec for just £99.99 less £7 TCB plus £10 top up. Can't be made SIM free for 3 months (via Orange themselves) but will work no problem with Orange, T Mobile and Virgin Mobile SIMs. £10/mth with Virgin gives you 250 mins, u/l texts and 1gb data with the very real chance of them reducing this by several pounds should you ring up after a couple of months and threaten to leave (30 day notice as opposed to 730!). Just a thought.0

Can do that as well but the contract works out cheaper, and with a better phone over 2 years. Can't complain for £13pm.
Slightly off topic, but what do you think of T-Mobile USA's new uncarrier plans?0 -

I'm not denying it's cheaper; it should be as you are tied in for 24 months as opposed to 1 month! And it's a more expensive phone, agreed, but is it really better? To me the S3 Mini smacks of a marketing exercise to cash in on the S3 name (which is itself plummeting in price due to the imminent S4). I would be tempted to sell the S3 Mini (even the 8gb model is still unbelievably fetching £230 on ebay!!) and buy the San Diego for £100. That pays for 10 months of the contract!
PS Sorry, know nothing about T Mobile USA so couldn't comment.0
