Unless they've added this since you purchased the offer page shows this is bold red text
Save 20% when you trade in your old vacuum cleaner. Enter DYSONTRADE at the end of checkout. Please note, only this Dyson cleaner can be in your basket during the payment process or the coupon code will not work. Offer ends...

As mentioned above the offer is still on so your best bet would be to return it and then buy one following the conditions of the offer.

I don't really see what this has to do with them being a responsible company but sorry you've not got the support you were looking for here.

Did you contact their customer services about this? They are normally quite helpful and may well be able to help more than we can here.

I didn't expect JL to do anything, save maybe include docs on how to trade in my old machine and THEN recieve 20% back.

So you see all that in red when you go to the DC33 page, where you can choose to buy it?
    All I see is "

    £244.96

    4.3 / 5

    152 reviews"
and below the picture the spec of the machine.

Sorry agree with others as well, offer/code shows clearly on the front page under the picture of the cleaner? Through special offer link

Nope, you are already on the special offer tab http://www.johnlewis.com/dyson-dc33-multi-floor-upright-vacuum-cleaner/p230978156#tabinfo-spcl-offr

The page for the product is http://www.johnlewis.com/dyson-dc33-multi-floor-upright-vacuum-cleaner/p230978156 and you only get the special offer details visible when you click on the link in the general top-right or on the special offer tab.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

How would they know to include the docs unless you have told them at checkout?

I see an offer like that I think 'ooh, how do I get that then' I don't just buy it without making sure I am going to get the actual offer.

Here ! This is on the offer page, plainly printed in red.

Save 20% when you trade in your old vacuum cleaner. Enter DYSONTRADE at the end of checkout. Please note, only this Dyson cleaner can be in your basket during the payment process or the coupon code will not work. Offer ends 7th May 2013.

Yes I know - that is what I said if you read the rest of my post.

I think this is a case of the OP is not going to budge on their opinion - fair enough we are are all entitled to one. As been suggested before can you return under DSR? Is it going to be worth it, do they collect the item for free?

Simply that the deal includes the opportunity to trade-in. So perhaps they could include the necessary docs in all boxes so that anyone buying could take up or not take the trade-in deal.
Like the free 5 year optional guarantee docs that were included.

As ValHaller has pointed out that is not the front page, it is the 'Special Offers' page you are reading that on. I bought soley from the front page description.
    Hasbeen
I would return but since, as I mentioned, the price has upped in the last few days by around the same 20% that I might achieve from trade-in. There seems no point.
Yes I have emailed with customer services of course and have had a number of exchanges where they flately deny they will change their position. But just this evening I recieved the promise of a phone call to "resolve this issue to your satisfaction" so I am now more hopefully.
    I will post developments here

Why would they do that? It would be giving money away for free. It's an incentive to buy at the point of purchase...otherwise we'd all be photocopying it and trading in old hovers we found at the tip.
