Refusal of debit card

I went in there albeit just before they were closing & was told that it was only for kids, have a current account with money in it all the time, she told me to try Lloyds, I'll have to go back in & have a proper chat to see why, if not I'll try somewhere else. Please keep the suggestions coming, I feel better with the help.

There not kids accounts its just that Barclays staff don't like opening them.

If you go to Lloyds and open a basic account withdrawals at ATM's can only be made from Lloyds TSB cash machines.

If Barclays won't open a Cash Account, then try opening a Halifax easycash account. It has a visa electron card on it and can be used to withdraw money from any cash machine. You can also apply to open it online to.

From Barclays web site it says you choose either debit card or cash card

Yeah if Barclays score you enough then you get the choice of cards, if not then you only get the cash card.

i went bankrupt in 2008 and i opened a barclays account last week and got a visa debit card. i did show proof of discharge form and she said the computer did flag up my bankruptcy but didn't have any problems
