sorry to hijack this post but I too am wondering about their honesty now.
Matt Taylor if you can possibly look at ticket id#71071405 and get a mac to me asap (today??) it'd really help. We've been assured it would be sent out within 24hrs. This hasn't happened and I'm left questioning this company big time. The sales pitch has been made. The customer has politely refused. Making people wait further than necessary for a mac is counter productive and more likely to alienate them from your company rather then make then re consider staying.0 -
Hi Lol,
Just had a look at the ticket with the intent to add the MAC for you but it looks like our support team have done so already this morning?
Sorry you're leaving but thanks very much for your custom, hope things go well with the new provider
Regards,
Matt Taylor

Hi Matt,
I'm presently with bethere/O2 broadband , with an open mind.
With your common adsl;
Why is a modem router foisted upon customers by your employers? Many like me have a perfectly good bought modem router all ready
Why do your employers charge an activation fee?
These two things together are a great way to scare people off.
thanks james0 -
Hi james smitha,
We don't force anyone to take a router on any of our services? The option is there during signup (and may be selected by default) but if you don't want one just select that option when creating an account.
As for the activation fee, I'm not totally up on how the costings went but as we're charged by our supplier we (in most cases) likewise charge for connection. I believe it's waived if you opt to take a phone line with us though.

Matt Taylor

Hi Matt Taylor,
Good to discover that the adsl modem-router is an option.
regarding the connection charge for just ordinary adsl and nothing else, would a lump sum to cover 12 months allow the connection charge to be waved, I'd be migrating from another isp?0 -
Hi,
Just had a word with our sales team and I'm afraid we can't do either of those things specifically - really sorry if that's put you off. If not I would say it's well worth giving them a call to see what they could offer.
Not sure if your phone is with Be*/O2 at the moment but it's worth bearing in mind if it is that they don't do phone only services, so if you were moving the broadband away you'd need to take the phone elsewhere as well.

Matt Taylor

Hi Matt,
To answer your unknown, I have my phone with BT.
As politely as possible, I get a sharp discount for paying the line rental once a year in bulk.
Though not pointed at you personally, I do find it interesting that your sales coleagues refuse to let go of the connection charge when I forgo the offered modem-router and offer a year's worth of monthly payments up front.
