That's because they didn't produce a budget in 2010! Time and time and time again it has to be said on here...the oppositions job is to oppose. The tories never published detailed plans of what they would do while labour were in power. Its political expediency not to give ideas to your opponents while you are in opposition.Thrugelmir wrote: »Detailed plans were never published as to how the cuts and tax rises would be implemented.0 -

What happened on March 24th 2010?Mr Darling cut his growth forecast for 2011 to between 3 per cent and 3.5 per cent, similar to that of the Bank of England. Previously, he had forecast growth of up to 3.75 per cent.

Any opposition when put on the spot will firstly argue that they are in opposition and will reveal their plans when the election comes. If pressed enough they say they will match the spending planned by the Government. Its almost normal practice.
Meanwhile more junior opposition spokesmen will either advocate increased or decreased funding or taxes as policies until these are challegned as being unaffordable at which point they call them aspirations.
It the example you quote, we will match spending but make tax cuts of £21bn..... itv was ever thus.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
