W880i
Options
Hi. I was wondering if anybody could me help me with the unlocking of the w880i that was locked to vodafone network. I have purchased an unlock code which when i put in told me the phone was open to all networks or words to that effect. When i insert my wifes orange sim into phone the phone recognizes that its an orange network sim and lets me transfer contacts to phone from sim and shows on phone screen that its orange network but then tells me the sim is inactive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
Thank you

Thanks James.
The phone seems to be still working with with a vodafone sim in even after putting unlock code in or at least i can send txt messages with the limited amount of credit still on sim. Also i can call the phone with the vodafone sim in from my own phone but not make a call out as im getting a voice coming up saying i need to put some credit on. There is 70p credit on there.
Cheers

When i put vodafone sim back in i can send txt out recieve calls in but not make calls out. Sometimes there are 3 beeps but then others there is an automated voice saying i need to put some credit on. Also with the vodafone sim in it doesnt say inactive sim on screen.
Thanks

when i had a blocked w810i, i put a voda sim in it and i could send and receive texts but when i called out it made 3 beeps.
sometimes my k750i makes 3 beeps (but they are a different tone to blocked/barred phones) because i dont have much or any signal.
If you insert an Orange or O2 sim in a blocked phone, a Sony Ericsson phone will play that 'error' tone and display 'Inactive Sim' or if you insert a T-Mobile or Vodafone sim card it will display the signal strength as normal, and in fact will even let you send/recieve text messages0 -

Ive just made a call out with the vodafone sim. it says need to put some credit on but then let me make the call and speak to the person so does that indicate it has not been blocked? I dont believe it to be stolen as i bought it from some one at work who was using it but wasnt very happy with it and went back to using his older phone. Could this indicate a problem with unblock code?

the phone isn't blocked if you say it calls out ok.
please try not to get confused between unlocking to all networks (which is legal) and unblocking (which is illegal).0 -

My apologies if i seem thick but what would seem to be the problem then. As i said b4 i put the unlock code in which then set phone to network free. Tried the wifes orange sim which she use every day in k500, this came up inactive sim but phone knew it to be orange network. When trying to make call with this sim it make the 3 beeps. Taking this sim out and replacing with vodafone sim I am able to use as normal. Once again apologies for appearing to be thick and i must be missing something here but what would seem to be up with phone? Would it appear to not be network free but perfectly useable on the vodafone network. Thanks for your patience and time.

i think the problem may related to the sim that you are using. the w880i is 3g while the k500i is 2g.
this has completely stumped me now0
