Young car insurance

Hi all,
I am currently only 17, however I am looking to purchase a Saxo VTR when I turn 18, as I have some money coming to my name.
At this point I have searched round insurance companies, both personally and by using the various search function such as confused.com.
The current lowest quote I have been given is £2300 for third party fire and theft. This was via the online system on Quinn Direct.
Just to ask if there is anyone out there who has also been in my situaion before, and where they found any cheaper quotes than I have been sucessfully in finding.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!
Adrian

£2300 sounds pretty good, I can't remember which is faster, VTR or VTS but go for the cheaper one
But 50% of the posts below me will be telling you to not buy a fast car for a first car, to get a slow old one and build up a few years of NCB, maybe a few posts will tell you about Pass Plus
But if you really want that Saxo, try Tescos, Churchills, Norwich Union or find the Saxo Owners Club and ask on there, you might find a few like-minded people0 -
Saxo= Chav car and a chav car = Expensive insurance, I suggest you get a different car maybe a Corsa, 106 etc, your get a better car for your money and save hell of a lot on insurance!0

:rotfl: .... the "chav car" comment cracked me up!
anyways ...
The cheapest my friends could find was Tesco car insurance

If your mum or dad or older sister might ever need to drive your car, you should put them on as a named driver. This may bring your quote down a bit. Obviously if they never will ever drive it, this would be fraud...0

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I am going to do my pass plus as soon as I pass, and have done the quotes with the assumption that I have this.
An I assure you all dearly that I am not a charver in the slightest, so no tracky bottoms tucked in socks for me! :T
The only reason for choosing the VTR, of which the VTS is the faster aj3001, is purely a love for the car and not because it is seen as a boy racer image.
morg_monster you mentioned putting my parents as named drivers. Would this affect me gaining no claims bonus, if I am down as the main driver?0 -
No it wouldn't affect you getting a NCB. Having a woman on your policy usually makes it cheaper:D
Have you tried CIS for insurance ? They were way cheaper for my daughter.0 -
A word of warning!
My son got a good online quote for a basic small car and when he phoned to take out the insurance it was almost double.

Why get a saxo, get a smaller older car and build up your NCBNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
