British Airways price promise

Hi
I was about to book flights to Florida with an online agent I don't know, when I decided to check the same flight on ba.com. It was slightly more expensive, but at least I knew that booking direct was safer. Then I noticed the BA Price Promise.
Always feel confident when you book online at ba.com. If you find the same flight (operated by British Airways) cheaper elsewhere online, once you have made your booking on ba.com, we will refund you the difference.
So, I booked direct with BA, read the small print, filled in the form and waited. Of course, my claim was rejected - BA say they need to see the "fare rule page" on the competing website. Which of course I can't find now since that fare has gone, and which they didn't ask for when I filled out the claim.
I've searched on here for BA's price promise and the only other thread dates back to 2006. I just want to alert people that BA still cannot be trusted and their "promise" is more of a lie than a promise.
From now on, I'll book with agents so that BA have to pay them a commission and earn less from me.

A prime example of cutting of your nose to spite your face.0 -
BA do not pay commission, nor do 90% of airlines. They may offer lower fares to some agents but it is up to them to sell them at whatever fare they think appropriate. However this forum is for claims for compensation only so if anyone wants to continue the discussion it should be under Flights and Car Hire rather than here0

You'd probably have found that the booking classes and fare rules for the flights were 'different'.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

"To be eligible for a PPR you must supply sufficient evidence of the Lower Online Fare in the form of a print out or screen shot of the fare quote page if required to British Airways’ reasonable satisfaction, along with the terms & conditions applicable to the Lower Online Fare. You should retain your print out until you have heard from British Airways that this is no longer required as proof."
Did you retain a copy of the T&Cs applicable to the lower online fare?0 -
I know this is an old thread.
Amazed to say I have actually got the BA price promise to work, and a refund of the fare difference between BA and the third party agent has now been processed.
BA do make the whole thing as difficult as possible though. It's hard to get back to the price promise information once you have booked - I had to search the website. Then the form is less than clear, only allowing you to enter one date for the flight although both fares were for return flights. To be sure, I submitted the form twice, showing both dates.
I had a printout of the competing fare, showing the exact flight times and flight numbers, and the date and time I printed it. I had a screen grab but it didn't show all the detailed information I later found I needed. You have to claim the same day, as opposed to within 24 hours. I heard back the next day and was asked to send the printout or a screen shot, which I did, and the following day heard my claim was accepted, and my credit card was refunded the difference immediately.0
