My daughter has forgot the pattern to unlock her phone and has now made too many attempts and now can't use her phone. The phone is now saying that the only way she can make the phone usable is to sign into the Google account tied to the phone. the problem is that she can't remember her username or password!
I've tried to use Google recovery to try and retrieve user name without any success and tried to to hard reset the phone but any code I try doesn't work.
Has anyone got any ideas on how I can make the phone usable? The phone was originally on Orange but was unlocked to use any sim.
Regards
Bernard

When you open the google account you are asked to give a recovery email address and it sends an email to it with information to access your account if needed... can you not find that email?0
-
Hi I don't have the information to get the recovery email, so that avenue is ruled out.

If your phone is rooted, you can boot it into cwm recovery (hold power button and choose recovery) and just select Wipe/Factory reset.
Otherwise try turning phone off (by holding the power button down for a bit until it turns off). Then Home+volume up+poweron and select something like hard reset. I can't remember if this will work for a non-rooted phone. I always root my phones. But try it.
NB These are both hard resets, so you will lose all your data (and maybe apps downloaded from the store), so only use a hard reset as a last resort.0 -
Hi
Thanks for the advice. It isn't a rooted phone and trying your instructions just locked the phone up so it didn't boot up and got stuck on the android logo.

Try taking the battery and putting it back in again and starting.
This won't reset it, but I think it will get you back to where you were before.0 -
Try Modaco.co.uk. They will help you.0

Another thing to try (after you've got it back to where you were before) is:
press emergency call.
type in *983*987#
press "erase everything"0 -
Hi
Thanks for your continuing help.
I tried taking the battery out and replacing it a couple of minutes and then putting in the code, but nothing happended. I'm guessing that there is no other button to press?

Try doing it again but with the sim removed.0
