However, I wasn't aware that the FIT question was open for debate. The only vote that could have influenced that was the general election that selected the parliament which presided over the scheme's introduction.

    .

So are you suggesting that once something is in place it should not be discussed?

The 'bedroom tax' is now law - not to be discussed??

Capital punishment? petrol taxes?? Freezing many allowances etc etc. Health, Education, Defence cutbacks not to be discussed?

The point of discussing FIT is to inform people reading these forums what a stupid and regressive system has been imposed on the British public.

Without some voices of dissent, these threads would be nothing but a self-congratulatory cabal discussing how much money they are making, whilst saving the world from climate change.

I'm saying - very clearly - that continual harping on about political matters is completely irrelevant to a forum intended for discussing money saving techniques.

Thank you. Finally you have had the decency to confirm what I have been saying for over a year - that the purpose of your posts is simply to cause division on PV threads.

There is no need for you to do that here, Tycoed was simply seeking advice on PV. The other recent attack was on a thread discussing the use of intelligent switches.

If you really wanted to discuss the role / roll out of FITs you could do this on the 'PV FITs Good or Bad' thread, set up for you to do just that. If you wanted to discuss our future energy supply, and offer your suggested solution, you could do so on the 'what should the UK energy policy for the next 25 years be' thread, set up specifically for you.

You may not like it, but all FITs is, is an investment in future energy supply, funded by energy consumers. However, unlike most such investments, the subsidy payments are directed towards households rather than giant energy companies - an arrangement that seems to cause you great anger!

If in the future PV is being installed without a subsidy, will you still be complaining when all consumers are benefiting? Does investing in the future really upset you this much? Lastly are you really still not aware that FITs is not 'British' it is international? Just because you can't comprehend what is happening, doesn't mean the rest of the world is incapable.

No-one is saying it shouldn't be discussed, but as Martyn has clearly stated, nearly every thread is clogged up with the rantings of how, why, what is not right with FITS.

Keep the rants to the threads that have been specifically set up to "discuss" your concerns instead of hijacking threads where people have genuinely come on to seek advice and hopefully guidance.

By continually "taking over" on threads such as this your helping no-one.

I was going to pop this on the Solar News thread, but thought it might be better placed here:

"The findings from my study clearly show that producing electricity from coal, oil and nuclear sources is FAR more environmentally sound than solar or wind," Dr. Horn said. "We simply can't allow these extremist renewable energy advocates to destroy our environment with their silly plans. Every citizen of the planet Earth deserves equal insolation, and all of these people with PV arrays are stealing it from them."

Who voted you in charge of the forum? It's not for members of the public to decide what can get posted onto the forum, it's for Martin Lewis and the board monitors. Martin champions money saving for everyone, not just the middle classes, and is probably as appalled as the next man that people in fuel poverty are subsidizing the rich. I can understand why you want this sort of debate to be suppressed, you're ashamed.

The point is that we can't change the government policy on FITS (Though they are moving in the right direction), but we can inform people who are considering installing PV of the cost to other people. At least one person on here has stated that he didn't know that his FITS were subsidized by other people's energy bills, and would have thought twice if he had (though he put a conveniently high price on his conscience).

The purpose of this forum is to inform and advise. I'm informing people (on a thread about "is PV worth it") that they need to not only look at the payback period for PV but also the cost to other members of society.

I like to think that people who call themselves "green" have a more open and caring outlook on life, society and the planet. When I post about FITs I'm appealing to those people - the ones who will think twice, the ones with a social conscience. Not the ones who state "I couldn't give a fig about the poor subsidizing me - they should get their heads down and get rich, like me".

These people aren't 'green' they are just opportunistic investors who saw a good, guaranteed return in a recession and went for it. That some have subsequently decided to reduce their energy demands in order to make the most of their PV generation is neither here nor there.

You can see from the domination of PV threads on here where the land lies. I bet this forum was quiet but full of wonderful people and wonderful threads before the PV investors moved in and took over.

Actually i could afford to put them on if i so wished, you just assumed that i needed the FITs to do it. Don't get me wrong, without the FITs at the time as Eric has already pointed out, solar PV would be a dead loss and only a fool would have invested in them because of the payback.

Or someone who cared enough about the environment to not make it about money. I'd have less of an issue with the FITS if all they did was to repay the cost of installation, but from what I have seen the fits go on for plus 20 years and most installations pay for themselves in plus 8 years.

Even then you'll probably still come on here moaning that people should only use what they need

The basic premise of being an environmentalist is exactly this, to only use what you really need. I see my comments about the takeover of the PV Barons was correct. Very few in here can be classed as 'green' in the real sense of the word.

From what I have seen, you guys are the ones 'ganging up' and making snide remarks, not Cardew.

I think you guys should take a long hard look at yourselves.
