Thanks for your reply. How does this extended absence greeting work? Does it stop people leaving messages? Or are you saying that you just leave a message saying dont leave a message as it wont be picked up?0

I want to switch off the voicemail so people cant leave messages. My phones manual says it has to be done through the network provider. Anyone know the right number for this?
Yes you could get Orange to switch off your voicemail but you would be far better switching to a new company that gives you free voicemail and much cheaper charges. They use the same network that Orange uses but don't rip you off and are ideal for users of the Orange OVP virgin tariff. see here for a free SIM:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Whilst OVP Virgin users have not changed provider and tariff for a decade, now is the time to do so. There are far more virtual mobile operators than I bargained for when I started a list on SayNoTo0870.0 -
Sorry to revive this thread but I finally got round to doing something about my Orange OVP SIM. Decided to switch to Orange PAYG on the basis that at some time in the future it may be useful to use for Upgrades. Called Orange on 26th August and instead of punching a few buttons, they insisted on sending out a new SIM and then I could switch.
Today is the 12th September and I am still waiting for the SIM. I wondered how difficult it was for Orange to put a SIM in the post and send it to me. Customer Services (without any embarrassment) said it could take up to 30 days.
Now I am wondering how long it will take for them to issue me my PAC number..........0 -
Tried to get my PAC just now. Even though I do not pay anything per month for this contract (and am slightly in credit) , they are insisting that I see out the 30 day notice period before being allowed a PAC.0

You have misunderstood what you have been told or said that you wanted to cancel your contract.
You can get your PAC today and it lasts for 30 days. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I took out one of these with Orange in 2000. They have now put the call charge up to 40p/min. This is a breach of contract. Unfortunately, I have lost the original documentation. What a bummer!
Does anyone have any of the original advertising or contract, showing the original call charges and the lifetime promise? I would relish dragging Orange through the courts and the newspapers. How about a class action- that would teach them a lesson!0 -

Or you could just switch providers - the Three 123 sim for example offers calls for 3p/minute and sms for 2p/minute with no ties after your PAYG credit0 -

Life's too short.
Our family has a couple of Orange OVP Virgin accounts which are no longer competitive. Even the original offer isn't as competitive as some deals now days. The one posted by 'nomoneytoday' is a case in point.
We just leave the accounts sitting there and if we every want one of the numbers for something else will just PAC them away.
Much as I dislike EE as a provider there are more important things to do in life than pursue them legally - IMHO of course. As for teaching them a lesson - doubt it! They've had lots of time to learn one - so far no joy!0
