How to keep cat away from my neighbour?

You're not a lawyer, are you?
We treat cats differently than dogs because - and I'm sure this will be a shock to you - they're different animals. In the same way we treat dogs differently from horses. And horses differently to hawks. They are all different animals governed by different laws because they have very different needs.
Dogs are fully domesticated after thousands of years of selective breeding. Cats are not as domesticated by their very nature because they are different than dogs.
Here endeth the lesson.
Yep, being a country girl, not much of a shock to me to recognise animals as having 'differences'.
I believe by stating the obvious, that animals are 'different', you are failing to understand what has been already addressed. It is not the animal that is the problem (be it cat, dog, horse, hawk etc), but rather irresponsible owners who fail to take measures that prevent their pet from causing nuisance to others.
It really isn't difficult.0 -

You CAN train a cat the same way you can train a dog though.
It's called learning theory.
With cats you just need the right motivation, something that makes them WANT to train.0 -
And several thousand years of selective breeding.
Yes, because these animals have been selectively bred for several thousand years too....

Guinea pigs are not cats. They are nothing like cats. You cannot compare the two.0 -
cats have been domesticated since Egyptian times, so I don't understand the selective breeding point.0

This, plus you don't need to domesticate an animal to be able to train it. Clicker training is used for many species, for example, from dogs to rats to parrots to cats to lions and tigers and bears, oh my. () If an animal can be taught to associate things, it can be trained. (See: operant conditioning) Certainly cats can.

This might have been mentioned already or may be out of your price range but if your cat is just looking for somewhere warm to hide, somrthing like this might help. I bought a plastic igloo (didn't have the door) for mine to hide in when we didn't have a catflap xxx0 -

After £££££s I think we've finally made it impossible for the neighbourhood cats to get in. If they do, I hope they are very careful of the lillies. Now to get the front garden cat/dog proofed and perhaps my daughter can have her garden back.
I do hope your daughter is very careful of the lillies too!!There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.
