I dimly remember there was something about not using pound signs and not using any commas - - e.g. instead of £2804, use 2804. Instead £2,804, use 2804 etc

    Also, don't use any decimal points, i.e. don't say 2804.00. Just 2804.

I had this problem when I put in the values with '.00' following, don't know if that's what you're doing? When I just filled it in as round numbers it worked.

Just applied for one myself and can confirm that removing the decimals fixed the problem. Wasted a few minutes figuring it out myself, could've saved myself some time if I saw your post :p

Now wouldn't is be marvellous if their website programmer had thought of telling people what is expected.

But that's expecting too much, I suppose....

It does look like I got a bit mixed up. When MarkFromMullion said that Reg Savers need SOs rather than DDs, I just mistakenly got it in to my head that he was saying SOs would still qualify the account to pay interest.

Or your own "charity" aka some suitable savings accounts of your own
Can you suggest any savings accounts which accept DDs? I'm finding it a bit difficult coming up with any suitable direct debits.

The rules are very clearly described in the T&Cs - page 7 ff in http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/StaticBS?blobcol=urldata&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobkey=id&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1223428158785&cachecontrol=immediate&ssbinary=true&maxage=3600

Just moved to Santander and its doing my head in, the switch itself was staright forward but I feel (maybe it's me) that there where a few hidden charges that I hadn't picked up on like the 1.00 a day over draft fee and the credit card annual charge. but whats really getting my goat is trying to use and remember all the info for internet banking.

currently planning on ditching the santander account and going back to first direct (i haven't closed my account) or may just set up a s/o back to the FD account for any amonuts above my DD's

need to decide which. just my expereince and maybe its me

Going OD on a Santander 123 account probably renders the bonuses useless.

And the 123 Credit Card fee isn't "hidden". It's actually shown pretty prominently in large red text on their website: http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?appID=abbey.internet.Abbeycom&c=Page&canal=CABBEYCOM&cid=1237861667895&empr=Abbeycom&leng=en_GB&pagename=Abbeycom%2FPage%2FWC_ACOM_TemplateW2.

I don't even have to scroll down the page to see it.
