in Water bills
Im just wondering if anyone knows of any way I can reduce our Water Bill without having a meter installed?
We live in a rented house and our landlord isn't keen on us having a water meter put in which is understandable.
We've just had our new bill through, £460 a year for 2 of us.
Based on on-line calculators on a meter we could get this down to £350 a year.
Ive checked with Welsh Water and their assessed charges would take this to £389, but they state that you can only get if you've applied for a meter and you can't have one installed due to pipework etc.
Does anyone know if there is anyway whatsoever of getting round this?

Your LL has no power to stop you. The meter isn't even usually installed on on his property. What is his objection?
There is no way other than applying for a meter and then being placed on assessed billing if it cannot be installed for any reason. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
The law is quite clear on water meters, if tenancy is below 1 year in length you need landlords permission. If it is 1 year or longer it is a mater between you and the water company landlord can not object.
There is no other way to save money on water bill.0 -
Some further research indicates that no permission is required if your STA is 6 months or longer. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

In our area the water board will only do it if you have a year or more on your contract for the property.0
