PAC code tied to a person?
I'm currently using a mobile phone, the contract for which is not in my name. I'm paying the bill, but it's actually in the name of a friend. Now the contract is up, I (and she!) want it transferred into my name. I actually want to move networks and well and keep the number, so if she calls to give notice and get a PAC code - can I use this PAC code to transfer the number simultaneously to myself and another network. Or will they check the name and say that only she can use it?
It just seemed like a simple way of doing the transfer.
Is there anything I'm missing?

You can do that.0 -
Great, thanks. Didn't want to get her to request the code until I knew I could do it this way.0

A PAC is linked to a number, not a individual.
You're not transferring the contract, you are giving notice when you use the PAC (within 30 days) , and then starting a new contract on the new network. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Well, in fact it's not always the case.
Stories are not uncommon about people buying so called 'golden' numbers on e-bay via a PAC and then sometimes refused by their network to port the number in and demanded to provide a proof that the number 'belongs' to them.
Just being pedantic...0 -
It's just a bog standard number :-) I just get better reception on orange in our village so want to transfer from Vodafone :-)0
