same here, practically everywhere charges for delivery."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

We are quite luck here i guess, the Indian/Pizza place is £5 min order for free delivery, all others in town have £7 minimum for free delivery.0
-
Local Chinese here charges £1.40 delivery, no matter what the meal charges are. Local Indian is free delivery on orders over £20.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Im sorry but EVERY takeaway has delivery charges listed on Menus-what was the name of the Takeaway?0
-
Nope not everyone does, most of mine just say "home delivery service available"
Some do say "rates vary depending on location" but no rates!0 -
In my town there is only 2 pizza company's that deliver. I would happily pay any delivery charge for them to fetch a chinese, indian etc
I do agree that they should've made it clear that there was a charge though
Wife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

You need to get back to reality! Doesnt virtually every take away charge a delivery cost?
Did the OP ask how much delivery was?
Gazza, don't get me wrong I have no problem with people making points and disgareeing with posts, but it was your attitude and the way you said it.
There was a time this was a friendly forum and everyone has friendly fun. There's disagreeing and theres OTT arrogance.
It wasnt a very friendly comment by you in reply to the OP. You could have got your point across without having to be so straight forward and nasty!

well to start with the OP should change the title of his thread - it is certainly not an "illegal" charge! Surely the onus was on the customer to check about the delivery charge before he placed the order.0
-
Whether it was illegal or not depends on when you can say agreement on the contract took place (on the phone or on the doorstep) and there are arguments you could make either way, but it's all a bit OTT for the sake of a few quid.0

According to https://www.upmystreet.com, round our way there are 42 restaurants within 1 square mile, so anyone charging for delivery wouldn't last very long

Instead they tend to give discount for collection, so your £8.20 order would have been £7.38 if you walked, or £8.20 to your door
