    Thanks ZhugeEX :-)

I've found EE to be really helpful when I rang yesterday and said I'd discovered there was an error and that I should be on unlimited she had no hesitation in saying "I'm sorry however we don't offer unlimited internet. I can increase your data limit free of charge so you don't get cut off and raise a complaint with (the company I don't want to name in this thread).

When I rang that company back today asking for an update on the complaint they simply said it had been referred to OFCOM and someone would be in touch in due course. I then obviously added to the complaint about the issue of the obscene amount of data I'd used and the delivery charge which the lad also kept to himself)

I'll keep everyone informed of how things go

Weird how you were told it's unlimited when EE have been quite adamant on their website about how you don't need unlimited data and caps are the way to go :rotfl:

Good after care service from EE in trying to sort out the issue ASAP.

Yes, 4G LTE will use more data and here is a simple explanation. Take YouTube for instance, which will detect your network speed and play 480P/720P/1080P etc based on your connection. When on LTE you have faster data speeds so you can now stream 1080P without buffering where on 3G you may only be able to get a 480P stream. The higher resolution requires a lot more data and why that same clip could use more over 4G LTE.

    Not my words obviously....

    I see your point but that's because you've moved from a Galaxy S to a Galaxy S4.

Youtube does not play based on connection speed. It plays based on what definition you want it to play at. So even on 3G and 4G you're not using more data as they'd both play at 1080p (or whatever you set it at). So still same amount of data used but the 4G connection phone wouldn't buffer as much if at all. You;d probably be able to load 2 videos in the time it takes to load one on a slow 3G connection. Thus more data can be used in the same time. But 4G will not use more data doing the same action as a 3G phone.

Obviously you can't get 1080p videos on a Galaxy S so it's an unfair comparison and the S4 would always use more data. Perhaps that's why it used so much more? Because you went from an old device that can't support High def streams, to one that can and thus more than 1GB was used. 1GB is less than 20 mins HD video in todays terms. On old phones that display say 360p/480p would allow you to watch for much longer.

It's a very common things and people are starting to realise that on new modern smartphones data can be used very quickly. That's why i think EE capping data has to be the worst idea for consumers as it's forcing them to pay more for something that shouldn't cost that much and is used on a regular basis.

Latest news coming out of Vodafone HQ is that their 4G roll out is being delayed till September.

This will be the same for O2 and will be the same for Three.

It's still unclear how Vodafone and O2 will deal with customers upgrading to 4G/priceplans.

Be honest though, apart from being for business use, what perks do you get with a fast speed like that?

Because i honestly can't think of any apart from getting a stable internet connection if 3G is congested/slow in your area.

Watch something on iplayer/netfilx - happens instantly
Download an app - I wait longer for the phone to install it than the time it takes to download it.
Facetime - crystal clear and no sync issues (unless the other side has them.
Tethering my tablet - browse the web faster than at home on my wi-fi.

Anything data intensive: it makes a difference.
