The are any good. They are one of the most popular PAYG options for smartphones, but don't expect getting any live CS support. It's e-mails only.

Their only a 'virtual' network - which means they will offer the same coverage of the primary network they are affiliated to (in this case, O2). As you pay less, you should expect less - and here is no viable Customer Service you can peak with, it is either a self-help forum or dealing by email.

If O2 falls over (as they have done, twice) GG falls over too. If you run a business, it is not recommended but if not, then they are really no better (or worse) than the others. You pay your money, and make your choice.

It depends how much value/need you put to 'customer support' agreed there isn't much with Giffgaff but that is fine with me.

One of our phones had been on a typical O2 sim only monthly contract for years and years - direct debit went out - SIM worked and that was it. The single only time I needed to ever call customer service in all those years was to get the PAC code to port it over to GiffGaff!

Have another phone running on GiffGaff for a couple of years and there were issues now and then but my experience is everything runs largely smoothly now and they have improved things hugely. Once automatically recurring GoodyBag purchasing was implemented (so you didn't have remember to log in every month to do it!) I couldn't imagine ever needing to go contract ever again.

I found the giffgaff messaging-based support very efficient when I had a porting issue. The message was replied to in a couple of hours, and resolved in one day. Obviously you don't get 'instant' service, but for the money it's perfectly adequate unless you really need hand-holding.
