How to stop pushy staff?

I personally wouldn't want only one card but that's just me. I'd hate to be abroad and have my card swallowed by an ATM or stopped for fraud reasons potentially leaving me high and dry.0

Just say something like "With all due respect, I know you're only doing your job but I do not want a credit card and would be grateful if you could stop asking me every time I come in. Please can you note on my file that I don't want one." !What will your verse be?

In reality what is happening in banks is that whilst staff are no longer incentivised for selling products i.e. they receive a quarterly bonus the reality is that the targets still exist and all that happens is the same old story where by staff that do not meet those targets are managed out of the business.
This is regardless of the "real" level of customer service they show such as helpfulness, sensitivity, effectiveness etc.
The problem with "customer service" is that it's very difficult to gauge.
To some people customer service is being served quickly and efficiently so they are in and out as fast as possible.
To some people it's being engaged with by the member of staff and showing an interest in what they are doing.
How do you measure how well a member of staff deals with a bereavement, for example, and put it into a nice pie chart for shareholders and management?
You can't. So now the banks just use weasel words.... they measure "customer service" by how many customers you "introduce" to a new banking account. Or "how much money you saved" customers on their home insurance. In reality how much !!!!!! you have sold to people. Except now you don't get rewarded for it and the banks can say to the public "Hey look, we no longer reward our staff for selling products!"0 -
reality here is as previously mentioned - bonuses will disappear but not targets and therein lies the problem.
in my opinion the misselling is not caused by staff going after a bonus but more to do with the incessant pressure from above often laced with veiled threats about future employment0 -
