Logged on to my Barclays online account to pay one of my regular monthly credit card bills, only to find that its details had mysteriously disappeared from my list of payess. And the "last paid" dates against other payess are incorrect eg showing dates from October 2012 when last payment was in March 2013. I've found a posting elsewhere from someone whose payee list has disappeared altogether, in some ways this is easier to understand than the hotch-potch that I've been left with. Anyone else noticed anything odd?0

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
There should be 16 payees on my list, but 2 are missing - one of these is paid monthly, the other was last paid in January, so neither should have been "tidied" under Barclays' 13 month rule.
The "last paid" dates issue is incomprehensible. The dates themselves are dates of actual payments, just not the most recent payments. The most recent date, 18/02/13, is the correct "last paid" date for that payee. But every other date on the list is a 2012 date. If they had somehow restored my list to its state on, say 19/02/2013, then my regular monthly payments should be showing as Jan/Feb 2013 dates.
Looks like I'm going to have to phone Barclays - I'll post to let you know how I get on. (assuming I ever manage to get off the phone!!!)
In the meantime, keep an eye on your accounts: I wouldn't have noticed anything was amiss with my list of payees but for the fact I needed to make a payment, which means it may have been wonky for 3 weeks.0 -
Mea culpa!
I usually future-date my online payments; Barclays tell me this is not the same as using the saved payee "as is". Hence the saved payee lapses after 13 months. The old dates on the dropdown list must have been the last dates upon which I made immediate payments rather than future-dating them. Here's Barclays' explanation:
"We understand that this occurs when the payee, in question, was set up over a year ago and is used regularly but the reference is changed on each payment. A payee may also disappear if the original payment was set up and saved as immediate and then all subsequent payments were future dated.
This is because the original payee is classed as the Master Payee. Any payments made after this, using a new reference or by creating a future dated payment, creates a copy of the Master Payee. Therefore the Master Payee has not been used. The Master Payee will, therefore, be deleted automatically after 13 months because it has not been used for a year. This also causes any copies of this payee to be deleted.
An example of this:
A customer sets up a new payment on 01/06/2010 and has opted for the payee to be saved for future use. After that they create a future dated payment to this payee using the same reference number. However in July 2011 the payee disappears.
A new mandate is created for future dated payments and is deleted after the payment has been made. The original mandate (the very first mandate created for this payee) does not get updated after the original payment has been made. Thus mandates that have not been re-used/updated after 13 months are deleted by a housekeeping sweep. This explains why at some point these payees no longer appear as existing payees of the customer when they want to set-up payments to someone they have paid before. Unfortunately the payees in question cannot be retrieved. They will have to be set up again for the Online Banking service.
This is a known issue and a solution is under investigation. At this time we have no further information as to when this will be resolved.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and regret that we have upset a valued customer. "0 -
