Really interesting what you say about debt having the ability to control spending. I think that might be true for me too. I fear once I am DF I will go on a massive spending spree. In fact I know I will (although hopefully spending on the right things like essential work on the house and a cooker...)

Huge well done on getting the house to the stage where it can go on the market

    Exciting interview news too :)

Maybe that's normal then? Or maybe it's only true if you've had an LBM. I guess if you've got a few grand of debt and the LBM hasn't happened, you keep going with the spending, not budgeting etc. I may have said it before but it's like reaching a weight loss target. Once you're there, you've got to maintain it. If you're always a little bit away, then you're still trying, still monitoring and thinking about it. Maybe I'll always try and keep a steady debt of £100, just in case :rotfl::D

I think you definitely deserve a bit of a spree though, you pay off so much every month. Why don't you pretend that your last debt payment is March, squirrel it away, then you'll have £3k to go wild with? But then that's it! ;);):D

Do you remember that episode of Friends where Phoebe tricks Rachel into thinking she's not pregnant to find out her true feelings? And Rachel was disappointed to find out she wasn't pregnant. But actually she was and she was genuinely happy. Your first instincts and reaction to a situation is usually how you really feel. It's like if someone rings your mobile and you look to see who it is and you're either, yay, great, I'd love to speak to them, or, oh gawd, not them! :rotfl:

I've been worried about this job / moving thing and my mind has been running away with me at times, thinking can I afford to do it. Am I making a mistake. What happens if it all goes wrong. Is it the right time. Yes, I know, I'm over thinking!!

Well, those interview gods ignored my request to let me know about the job in July when I've had more time to prepare and move and save...........they offered it to me today :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T And my first natural instinct was total and utter delight. Not terror. Not fear. Not worry. Just pure joy and relief :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I just need to wait for a letter, then I'll need a DBS and occupational health clearance, and to discuss where I'll be on the payscale, pension and benefits etc, so once that is all satisfactory, I can hand my notice in :D:D I've wanted a job change for years and years. It's been getting steadily worse and my patience has run out but now there's a chink of daylight at the end of the tunnel, and not someone with a torch :rotfl:

I am going to miss parts of the job, mainly the people, the car, the money, but not the stress, the worry, the absolute dread every morning, bargaining with myself and having to talk myself into going. I hope this new job isn't like that :o

So yeah, it's all going on with me. And my house should be on the market by the weekend :T

    Long overdue with everyone's diaries......I'll be back......:o:D

Huge congrats Ena!! I haven't been on here for a while so just read through everything that happened from April for you - I'm so pleased as I know how much you wanted to change jobs! I hope this is the start of everything you want to happen.

Re being debt free and going on a splurge - I became debt free in January this year, and since then, I've done the opposite. I've felt incredibly guilty about every penny I've been spending, to the point where I started to wonder if I was normal!! So I just squirrel away a few pounds here and there instead. I finally splurged on a treat for myself and although I still have that guilt, I think I'll get over it!

Good luck on getting debt free, getting the house sold and getting everything in place for your new job!

    Hi Orange Ena,
I am so happy for you. If anyone deserves a new job it is you. I remember you once saying you were thinking of damage that could happen to yourself that might keep you off work. It made me feel so sad. Now you will have a job where you don't feel that way. I used to have a higher paying job but a lesser paying and less stressful job is the way forward i am sure.

Now just to get the house sold and find somewhere new in your home town.

I love it when a plan comes together

    Well done!!!!

Thanks lcc, nice to "see" you :) Oh yeah, I've been moaning about my job for a long time so hopefully that will stop now, although I'm sure I'll have other moans!! :o

It's a strange one really I guess. Some people probably go wild and spend like they did before and end up back where they started, and then other people don't forget how hard being in debt is at times, all the worry etc and then can't seem to get out of the habit of being frugal. We need a bit of both! I'm sure things will settle down for you and you'll be able to buy a few wants as well as needs without feeling guilty. You're not in debt....you're allowed. Although if you're in debt, you can still treat yourself too ;)

Thanks for the good wishes :)

Oh thank you so much DIA, that's so kind of you :) Oh gawd, the breaking the arm thing! I was so desperate to not go to work, I wished harm to myself. Pretty terrible really, but now I can't break my arm cause I've got too much to do!!! Just touched some wood - phew! :rotfl:

I really hope this job is less stressful. I know it'll be busy but I won't have the same level of responsibility and worry, and therefore I can't imagine it will be as stressful as now. Anything is better than feeling how I do about my current job :o

Still, onward and upwards......I'm excited about the future, and yep, the plan is definitely coming together! Muahahaha :rotfl: :) x

Thanks CB, that's lovely. Haha I'll bet I'll break my arm now! :rotfl::p That'll learn me!!!! :D

Hellloooooo. I've had a lovely day off today, no cleaning, no tidying, only 1 quick survey :) My friend has started a craft group so I went along to support it and her and had a really lovely time meeting new creative people and I actually produced a finished piece of work! V v proud :rotfl:

I'm really pleased with my CHEFS account total. I think I started saving around the 11th March so all being well I'll be having a "free" cruise in 2019 :rotfl::D

The estate board is up :D but I'm not actually on the market properly yet :( The fella can't do the photos / EPC until Wednesday so I should on the market by next weekend, although I was planning an overnighter in my hometown to look at flats which maybe silly if I get a flurry of viewers for mine :p Please!!!
