Can I get Broadband if I've been bankrupt??

Hello all, looking for some info/advice from all you lovely people.
I'm about to move into a new flat and I really want to get connected so I can have broadband access.
However a few years ago I had to file for bankruptcy. I have been discharged now for nearly 3 years.
Would this affect my ability to get Broadband connected? Are there any service providers out there that would accept me as a customer??
In know it sounds silly, but at this stage of my life I honestly don't think I would want to live without having some kind of internet access:)
Has anyone here had any experience with this kind of thing?
Thanks
Gary

Which ISP are you intending to use?No free lunch, and no free laptop

They'll all do credit checks. Whether you pass or not depends on the rating agency.
IMO all you can do is pick a deal and try to sign up.0 -
Just pick one that does not need a long term contract (12+month contract) without a bundled phone line offer. Generally if you take out a contracted item that has the ability to run up charges (ie. phone line, ppv tv etc) then you will be credit checked. They'll all do credit checks. I have never heard of an ISP doing any credit checks on you.
Always been on a 30 day rolling basis for my internet, at least if they're turn to crap I can leave.0 -

You could always get a 3 mifi device (about £30 from CEX) and buy the pre-pay 3gb cards from ebay for about £11 a go (works for 3 months or until you use up the 3GB).''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0

It might be worth signing up for a 30 free trial of a credit agency to see your credit score company like Experian.
I've done this myself to find I now have a CCJ from a property I left years ago!0 -
It is worth checking your credit reports with all three credit reference agencies (Experian, Equifax and Callcredit) to make sure the bankruptcy order has been updated as discharged. There's a chance the broadband provider will carry out a credit check, with your permission, to help them assess your application, so just do what you can to make sure your report is accurate and up to date.
