If you looking at getting some bitcoin which site is recommend to buy from the UK?
I use localbitcoins.com and bitbargain. The Bitcoins are put into Escrow by the seller, so you have some protection in case they try not to send you the Bitcoins once you've sent payment to their bank account. You can also see feedback for each trader, so it's easy to choose someone trustworthy.
Just keep an eye on the spot price on an exchange like mtgox to make sure you're getting a fair price.0 -

The winkletooers twins may have been involved with the start of it, they may have created the name Satoshi Nakatomo to misdirect attention away from them over to Japan.
All there experience with losing facebook idea they wanted to do something even bigger and more influential than facebook.
Whoever it was who started it obviously has an edge and an exit strategy.0 -
BoracicLint wrote: »Yes but the point I was trying to make, is that an online wallet at least requires some form of ID, and is linked to your name/email address etc giving some sort of tracability to an actual person. If I create an offline wallet on the otherhand, there is no way of determining who the owner is. Yes, the transactions would still be in the blockchain, but the wallet is just a string of data. It doesn't link those transactions to any person. If I wanted a tax haven, or a place to stash proceeds from illicit sales, what's stopping me?
When I first got into Bitcoin I registered a couple of Bitcoin-related domain names.
One of the ones I tried to registar was "Bitcoinforensics", but unfortunately someone beat me to it.0 -

Yep I have bought and sold on bitbargian. Great community and sellers so through a deep screening process and tests. You pay a premium but then you dont have to deal with international wire transfers and so forth
As for mtgox, dont sell btc there, my transfer of gbp back to the uk from mtgox has been on hold for well over 3 months... be very careful. god knows whats going on there and wouldnt risk transferring funds in or out of there!
If you are interested in purchasing btc then give me a shout and can see what can be done (via secure bitbargain) but your best off just looking at the lowest cost seller (with a decent rating)
as for local bitcoin, be careful, numerous frauds and security is more relaxed.. can be cheaper though, but you pay a price for risk0 -
Slow retrace today, down to £300 now. Certainly not the sudden crash that everyone was expecting from yesterday's high. Demand must still be fairly robust, although I admit the rise to £520 yesterday was ludicrous!0

So those who "bailed in" following the experts advice about them hitting £1700 in days, paid £500 each and now own something worth £300.
A fool and their money are quickly parted.Be happy...;)0 -

£178 was the all time high back in April.
The "new low" will be higher than that I think. If the price gets to about £250 and holds, I'm going to be buying a few more.0 -
Wow - so the price today is 50% of yesterdays high? And dryhat tried telling me BTC isn't a "gamble".[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Yesterday and the day before I said I was expecting a pullback.
And I don't expect anyone to follow my advice anyway.0 -
