Buying a new keyboard and mouse

I want to buy a new keyboard and mouse and thought I might as well go wireless. Does it make much difference to buy a cheap mouse or keyboard or a more expensive option? Can people recommend any they have purchased? Also can I buy one set and use on both my computers, I have a Mac and a PC.

Thanks everyone, in my search I have read about Bluetooth keyboards and mice? Again are they not so great?

I have a HP keyboard already so might just keep it and buy a mouse.

I saw wireless keyboards and mice in friends flats, but the official Apple ones and they love them due to not having cables and less clutter on the desk in tiny flats.
