IMHO I would say Decline but you won't know until you apply.
  • I did a soft search and came back with £500 at 15.9% few weeks ago. I took it as decline so not bothered to go ahead with the application.

    I was accepted.

In previous threads I have read I think £500/19.9% is a decline,

However I think £1200/19.9% borderline so I would check your credit report before going further.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.

I'd wait 3 months or so

Initially, Nationwide were offering me £500 and a credit card at 19.9% APR

Three months later, they offer me the Nationwide select card with a 2K limit, a 0% APR for 12 months and 12.9% thereafter

Saying that, I do pay in £800/month
  • I was quoted £2500 @ 19.9%, I changed it to £2000 accepted straight away.

    I'm a) a student
    b) Most of my money isn't in Nationwide
    c) Its £800 in, £800 out

I pay in £800 to meet the £750 minimum

    Likewise, I pay £500 in to N&P

I was offered 7k and declined at 19.9. Then was quoted the same the day before applying for a current account. They accepted me for the current account with a 2750 overdraft , and approved me for the credit card at 7 grand at 15.9 .
In my opinion the soft search is pointless if you have had previous credit issues .

I've been quoted £3,500 limit at 15.9%.....what do you think my chances are of acceptance?

(note I only want a card for emergencies / work travel so would lower the limit to £1,000 or £1,500)

You have a very good chance of being accepted with that.

Just out of interest do you bank with them?
