I have an iPhone 4 and I am using Giff gaff pay-as-u-go, not a goody bag.
For the last week or so, every now and again my balance has gone down by 10p at a time, indicating that I have made a call, even though I have not and no call is shown as having being made on my phone.
I don't leave the mobile data switched on and usually just use wi-fi at home.
Today I switched my imessage on whilst at home and 12p was taken off my balance, I did not send any message just turned it back off.
I have contacted giffgaff agents and they told me I have been calling the following number 443300685269 for approx 2 or 3 seconds at a time so I am being charged 10p each time. They refunded me the first 3 times it happened but they have now replied saying that "If you have not physically made the calls then your handset must have a virus or bug which is doing this and you would need to get it looked over by a reputable mobile engineer."
I have looked on there forum but can't find a solution for this.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to solve it please.

Do the calls appear in your call log?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Is it always the same number? Something is calling home... But you need to differentiate between data/VOIP and PSTN calls. If the call log on the phone shows nothing, then it could be a work-around that is doing something naughty.

Who/what does the number belong to? It certainly isn't a premium rate scam.

Yes it's always the same number, I don't know who the number belongs to, I have googled it but it doesn't come up as anything.
When I asked giffgaff about this they said I had made calls to this number but it is not showing on my phone.

"Oftel records show that numbers starting 0330 068 are allocated to HulloMail Limited."

HulloMail appears to be a smartphone voicemail app

    Do you have it installed?

I think I may have installed it about 2 years ago when I first had my phone but never used it and deleted it soon after.

I just went onto the app store on my phone and searched for HulloMail and it is saying installed next to it, although the app is not showing on my phone now.

You probably still have the diverts to HulloMail still active on your sim. If a call diverts to that you'll be charged as if the call was made yourself.

Call ##002# from your phone to cancel the diverts. That will fix the issue.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

    Thanks.
I have done that and on the screen it says ' Setting erasure succeeded voice call forwarding all calls', then the same for data calls, fax calls etc.
    Is that correct?
