You don't download Google Drive. It's cloud storage; you upload what you want to it and it can be accessed from anywhere..
Not a good idea to hand over your password and give access to all your other Google apps though. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The installable app allows you to sync select directories on your PC to the google drive service.
Rather than give away your password, use the share feature of google drive and give your friend access. Full details about this are here: https://support.google.com/drive/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2494822&topic=2816927&rd=10 -
Google drive gives free 6 gb space for uploading files, images, videos etc.0

If your worred about other apps, maybe try creating a 'shared' account, which doesnt have other apps and payment methods linked in..or see if supports 'sharings' or 'links' to specific files to be shared..0

Perhaps you could say that you don't need to download Google Drive to use it.
The app is available at the link below, I find it very useful.

As another poster has said, sharing works a treat
