Don't forget to do all your shopping with a Santander credit card to maximise the return on this account.

You don't actually get cashback on all your shopping with the 123 CC. Not unless you only buy from shops that Santander pay cashback for. There are other cards that pay cashback on all your expenditure.

I use my 123 CC only for petrol and supermarkets, rest all goes on other cashback cards. Atm, my card is still free and is therefore worth it to me. Not sure I'll keep it at the end of the 12 months.

I doesn't seem to say anything like "Your PIN must be different to every other card you hold".
Poster is probably referring to this...
take reasonable steps to keep your PIN or Personal Security Details unique to the accounts that you hold with us

This particular issue was discussed late last year in this thread...

But that is only about current accounts and saving accounts, nothing to do with the 123 Credit card.

If the same PIN is used for the 123 credit card it's not "unique" to the debit card on the 123 current account.

I completely agree with that, your debit card and credit card should have different PIN numbers.

However, the original post said "have you a different pin number for all your cards? If not you will not be protected in case of fraud!", this is what I disagreed with. I don't think Santander can refuse a fraud claim just because you have two CCs with the same PIN.

I posted that as a reminder to everyone about taking reasonable care with your pin numbers. I think there was something on the TV about this a while ago so when applying for the 123 current account and credit card I asked and was told they and all my cards MUST have different PIN numbers. I have now worked out a system I can remember to give all my cards different numbers.

Whilst I agree you should, it doesn't matter what the staff say, its the T&Cs that matter, not the staff.

I switched my HSBC joint account to the Santander account. Only one direct debit didn't switch properly (even though according to the online banking, it did), which was O2. A phonecall to them, two in fact and it looks like it's sorted.

I don't know how long the 3% will stay but I hope it'll be a fairly long time to make the switch worth it, even though HSBC are behind the times with phone apps and innovation.

Will also open a Santander ISA account with them to make it easier.

However still keeping the HSBC as it's my personal account which I get paid into. It has a standing order to transfer most of it into the current account.

Thought I would try to find a definite answer to the different pin numbers question and came across this article which specifically states that Santander will not cover fraud on cards with the same pin number. So best to have different ones to be safe.

Ah well, if it's in the Daily Mail, it will of course be true!
