Parking ticket from UKCPS

Hey guys,

I've done some searching around the forum and I've noticed that everyone appears to agree that you shouldn't make no contact with UKCPS and should certainly not pay them. I'm hoping this is still the case as previous posts were from around the 2011 period and I hope things haven't changed. I would also like to post my circumstances and see if the same advice applies to me.

I was on a retail park visiting a shop with my 2 toddlers, it was a busy time on the retail park and thus was full of cars and pedestrians, and because of which your attention is focused on not causing an accident. I know that the bays to the left of the store are 'Parent And Child' bays as I use them every time I go; on this occasion a bay was empty, but I was unable to drive into it as a guy had all his car doors wide open and his pram in the bay, so as I drove past, I saw an empty bay to the right of the store and swooped in. I came out of the store a mere 10-15 minutes later to find a ticket on my window. It turns out I was parked in a disabled bay without a badge, which was a genuine mistake as I had assumed it too was a 'Parent And Child' bay and there was no signage to state otherwise. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post photos, otherwise I'd show them. What would you guys advise? Thanks :)

DISABLED BADGES ARE NOT VALID ON ANY PRIVATE LAND OR CAR PARK.

So Ignore them. Keep ignoring them, ignore them some more, then ignore them again.

Read what stupid letters to expect.

Ignore is the best advice with these clowns, but be aware that Peter Haswell their office manager trawls this website looking for people like you to befriend and offer advice, ignore any private messages you may get.

Also there are loads of threads about these jokers here is a time limited search on this forum . Just so you are aware sometimes they do issue claims, so edit out any thing from your first post that could identify your ticket, for example what shop you parked outside of

I am sure you didn't mean your post to come across as it did. By all means, ignore the PPC, but don't ignore Disabled Parking signs as disabled people do need the extra space for wheelchairs.

I appreciate that OP made a mistake, but when car parks are full, it is even more important not to take up a disabled slot as that could mean the difference between a disabled person being able to shop or not.
  • Thanks for the advice guys, but I cannot help but feel as though I should pay the £60 now rather than paying the £100 later. How far would they actually take it? What about being taken to court and what not?

You won't be paying £100 later, so there's no point paying £60 now. Did none of what you've been told here sink in?
  • It sank in, but other than saying "ignore it" nothing is reassuring as to the future of this ticket.

What do you mean paying later ?? If you follow the advice you won't be paying anything.

Don't be ridiculous please! Do you fall for phishing emails as well, it's a very similar impersonation of authority scam?

If you say there were no signs to tell you that one was a disabled bay then you cannot possibly have agreed to pay UKCPS anything.

I would try complaining in store with the Store Manager and see if he/she will cancel it (they often can). Point out the failings of the signage and tell the Manager how much this has upset you, in fact you almost thought it was a real fine. If he/she says it is then laugh!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Do not ignore any PPC charge notice. Respond denying any liability and your reasons why which can be obtained on here if you want thay advice. emember that POPLA now exists, and although you will be told that it makes no difference, remember that the government and the DVLA involved themselves in this set up. So follow the protocol and write an appeal which you will very likely lose, then appeal to POPLA. After that if you lose, write a cease and desist letter, then ignore. In the very unlikely event of going to court, you have shown yourself to be polite and responsive and you will have a very firm defence raised from people on here. Listen to all those who give advice and explain why. IGNORE anyone who is a one word exoert as in 'ignore '

Why it works in a huge majority of times? Popla is not the be all and end all of everything, UKCPS are a belligerent company who is more likely to issue a claim after a popla win for them if you ignore, a cease and desist letter is meaningless and will laughed at in the porta-cabin at their head office at the back of the pub.

I don't think anyone has said a one word reply of ignore, I have given the advice of ignore as a tactic that works though, the reason is quite simple and backed by not just users on this forum but others like Pepipoo , Piston Heads, CAG and various other sites. I have yet to see any huge increase in claims post popla, and as popla is only for england and wales sometimes its impossible to go there.
