With our wedding in the near future, we tried a dress off ebay (from China) for 40 quid, plus 62 postage. It's now arrived (3-4 weeks later), and I'm reliably told it is absolutely stunning and only needs slight alterations

I know others who have done this and their dresses have been fab.

So long as its a dress that is liked it shouldn't matter where its got from

Us blokes have it easy when it comes to a wedding as all we need is to hire a suit

I got mine from TJ Maxx (as it is known in USA). £13.50 everyone commented on how nice it was ... but then they had to be nice as it was my wedding day :)

I had a wedding dress from ebay - china, and it was awful! Pink, when I ordered white, miles too big and rips in the chiffon!!! Ended up buying a lovly dress but very expensive.

    AND

Was in TK Maxx yesterday looking for a suit for DH and found a Prada!!!!! jacket for £63. very nice quality and syle and colour but too small; D*mn it!

That's my only gripe with TK Maxx, whatever size they have in stock is the size I ain't! I've seen loads of amazingly priced designer outfits but either too big or too small - I guess it's me that's the wrong size!

I bought several (60+) bridesmaids dresses on eBay for between £3 and £20, lots still had the labels in and many were worth £100+

Quality and price aren't always related, as this site shows daily.

Sounds like they sent the wrong one. But either way part of it being ripped is very poor.

mmm...I hope these remarks are a little tongue-in-cheek. Some people are not as well off as others, and a cheaper wedding dress with some faults doesn't make them not worthy to marry. This is a moneysaving site, no need to be snoobish please.

If you marry someone is based on where they get their dress from

    I totally agree!

Personally I don't see the point in getting yourself into debt for a very expensive dress that you are only (hopefully) going to wear once. I am hoping that Tesco Clubcard 'Deals' will pay for my honeymoon! :D

Went to TK Maxx in Weston today to check it out...... mainly plus sizes (18 to 22) with some smaller sizes.

However all of them were dirty in some way... lipstick, very dirty neck marks (YUK!!) and the trains were really bad...... nice styles if you wanted to get the dress cleaned first.

I would be happier marring a money savvy lady who found a reduced price dress or hired dress as long as it looked nice and suited her and she liked it.
I would be more reluctant to marry someone who had to wear the most expensive designer clothing and would refuse to spend less than a few grand on a wedding dress.

Spend a few grand on the ring and £80 on the dress ;)
