Wanting to make a nappy cake for my boyfriends sister who i expecting her 2nd daughter in May. But no idea what to put in it! Her 1st child is just 2 and she has just found out she is expecting a 2nd girl. Meaning she has MORE than enough clothes for half of cornwall!!! Lol.
She was only joking the other day about how she wont need to buy a single thing for this one and it will be super money saving!
Ideas guys?

You could also do a google search for "make diaper cake"
If you search on images you will gets tons of ideas. Diaper cake brings up more results as they are very popular in America.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

For the arrival of our friends daughter along with the big pressie we made up a 'Nappy changing survival kit'. We had a small box and DH aquired safety goggles from work, we also put in a clothes peg (nose), disposable gloves, a nappy and some wet wipes. The 'baby' is almost 5 so I can't remember what else we put in but it got a laugh.

If you want something special as a gift for a new baby and/or the new parents, you could try this place if you're in London (it's in West Hampstead)
http://www.art4fun.co.uk/
Basically, you choose the ceramic you want to decorate (they have bowls, plates, mugs, vases, jugs, oven-to-tableware - EVERYTHING!) then decorate it, so you could include all the details of the new sprog.
The best thing is, they currently have a sale many ceramics have up to 75% off. I was talking to one of the assistants and she added that there will be even greater reductions in February.
An added bonus is that it's fun!0 -

I have just completed 2 baskets for my 2 best friends who are both expecting their second child and both their first ones are 2. I put in them:
- Hand crocheted (by me!) baby blanket with wool I already have
- Small teddy bear for the new baby (boots points)
- Shampoo, baby wash and nappy cream (boots points again!)
- New bibs and sleepsuits (it doesn't matter how many clothes you have, you still want to put your new baby in a new sleepsuit!) (Matalan sale £3)
- Newborn nappies (Boots points, £1.49 a packet!)
- One basket has new dummies in (for the mum who uses them) and the other has a breastfeeding necklace in (for the other)( £2.50)
- Baby flannels (£1 in Canada)
- Huge basket right shape and size as a nappy holder after (£4)
So each basket cost me a total of £10.50 and they look full to bursting0 -
when my niece was born I got hold of the newspaper for the day and the number one single. I also spent a morning on the internet making a list of the prices of a few items for that day. Off the top of my head they were things like a pint of milk, a loaf of bread, a litre of petrol, a Ford Fiesta, entry to Alton Towers, two weeks in Spain, the average house price, the average salary etc. I typed it up and printed it nicely.Self employed and loving it

Hiya everyone x
As a recent Mum myself - things that would be useful in a hamper I would say are
Muslins - these are cheap - fill out the basket and very useful. You can never have to many.
A chill out CD to play in the babies room / to have in labour - You could make this yourself to save money.
sleepsuits / babygro's - not clothes and I got loads and loads of proper outfit clothes and although these look pretty they are a bit of a pain and sleep suits are so easy.
Calpol / gripe water / Infacol. Very useful.
soft baby books / toys - we hardly got any toys or books. I would not advise too many teddies - we have loads and loads. I gave loads of them straight to charity - we had over 20! Yikes.
Bibs
Things for Mummy - Like chocs / magazine
Thank You cards / Birth Announcement cards

I used to work in a baby clothes shop and we used to recommend that if people are buying clothes, buy larger sizes (3-6/6-9 months) as a lot of people will buy newborn as gifts so parents end up with loads of newborn clothes that baby will grow out of quickly, or possibly never wear. Also if it's a large baby the newborn stuff will probably never fit0

Yep I found that - "Little" Daisy was so big when she was born that all her new born stuff has gone straight into the loft!:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0
