Changing from O2 to T mobile Pac question

I have made the decision to change from O2 to t mobile to their full monty tariff at £16 per month.
I would want to keep my current number on O2 for a few weeks. My question is - I already have my pac code which runs out Mid April - can I provide this to T mobile part way through the contract or does it need to be done immediately at the start of the contract?
