Have you asked what the reason is?0

no I never had this issue until now so its there problem im leaving once I paid it off0

Ok, so your leaving a bank which gives you £5/month for a bank that gives you nothing. Sounds logical.
I could understand if you were leaving for a bank like First Direct, but Barclays? Really?0 -

Principles usually cost money. In this case, £60 a year...that's assuming the OP has/qualifies for/can fund a Reward account of course?
If it was me I'd be wanting to recoup some of the charges they'd had off me.0 -
Reward account is no longer a no-brainer with forthcoming changes.
Non-Reward accounts/Reward without the £5 are not competitive.
If they restricted online access, that would be a deal breaker for me
Barclays is far from the best but has a large branch network, seems to have fewer 'downtime' complaints, isn't a 'debit card from hell' and has access to a large network of reduced fee ATMs abroad.YorkshireBoy wrote: »Think it's called cutting off your nose to spite your face!

Their online banking and current account servicing are tip top, not one problem in 35 years. Customer service isn't up to much and rates are dire. Apart from that, no complaints here0 -
What are 'service records'?

This report's from a few months ago.Complaints about high street banking were up 5pc in the first half of 2012, to a total of 828,040. Santander (Madrid: SAN.MC - news) attracted the largest total number of banking-specific issues, at 147,113. Barclays was the focus of the second-largest number, with 152,372 customers taking their problems to the regulator.
Lloyds points out that it received so many complaints because it is the largest bank, with around 30m customers in the UK. The lender claims that the FSA receives 1.4 banking complaints per 1,000 Lloyds customers, 3.6 for every 1,000 RBS (LSE: RBS.L - news) customers, 3.8 for every 1,000 Barclays customers and 5.2 for every 1,000 Santander customers. Barclays said that it holds 11.9m current accounts but does not keep records on how many customers it has in the UK.0
