Cancelled mobile contract, but cashback showing as payable?

Hi guys, sorry if this is better placed in another area.

I took out a mobile contract for my wife with cashback from TCB. After the phone arrived, she decided that she didn't want to commit to a contract (was doing perfectly well on PAYG) so we arranged for it to be returned as per the 14-day cooling off period (we'd ordered it online).

They ballsed up the return a little bit, as their systems didn't register that the phone had been returned to them, resulting in an erroneous bill being sent to us, which was sorted out with a couple of phone calls.

I've now logged into my TCB account, and the cashback is showing as payable :D I'm guessing it's due to the cancellation/return taking longer than usual to process, and the cashback being approved before the cancellation was registered. Being the good sport I am (and more than a little paranoid about the phone company asking for it back), I just thought I'd check if anyone else has had a similar experience, and what my rights are regarding this?

I'm also aware of the irony that (for once) I'm worried about cashback that HAS been paid :rotfl:

LOL...I did that too with a T-Mobile contract and they paid me £100 even though I cancelled...I don't mind thank you very much. Paid into my bank account. They could I suppose ask for it back but it will be very unlikely.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Your Rights? None - technically he money isn't yours, as you cancelled the contract. It not spend a penny of it until you are absolutely sure they are going to let you away with it.

The cashback goes through so many layers before it gets to you, so I would take the money and not give it a second thought.
I've been in a similar position to you 3 times now, and not once have I ever heard a peep out of TCB or Quidco.

Take the money and stop advertising the fact.
