Microsoft office 365 "free" trial then monthly fee con

Apologies if I am on the wrong thread.

I have just signed up via microsoft website to the micrsoft office 365 (http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/try/)
It clearly states 1 month free trial then £7.99 after that, which seemed great to me as I only need it for 2 months for college, however when I signed up they immediately took £7.99 from my account then told me my browser was not compatible.
(so no free trial)

I contacted the customer service who told me I signed up for the monthly plan and so am not entitled to a free trial, as I should of just signed up for a free trial, however there is no way on the website to do this, you have to sign up to eityher the monthly plan of the yearly plan both and in order to get them and the first month free enter payment details.
The person I spoke to was of no help whatsoever, just repeatedly telling me I have a "monthly plan"

Could anyone tell me what the next thing I can do is? do I go to financial ombudsman for false advertising?

In the meantime please don't anyone sign up to it as it is an utter con!

    Will warn others!

They only recently announced the new price plan, however I cant see why anyone would want to pay monthly for a product they'll never own, especially considering the competition.

It maybe a con but you don't have to pay £8.95. You can buy a year up front from Amazon for £66.99

Last time I checked, there were 2 options, the free trial and paid for options. The free trial needs no payment info whatsoever, so your entering CC info should have warned you (MS rarely require CC for any trials).

Since you can access most of th features free when using the Outlook web service (free), I wondered why anyone would pay for it!

I had no issues with the free trial. When it was nearly over I bought a prepaid card on Amazon, put the number in and it extended my subscription as expected.

To those who question why you would want to go the subscription route:
    1. Even if you pay the one off cost you never own it, you just have a license to use it.
    2. I have 4 devices; a mac with OSX and Windows 7 (so 2 installs), a PC laptop and a PC desktop. Therefore it makes financial sense for me to go the 365 route rather than buying 4 boxed copies.

And if you factor in the cost of an extra 20gb of SkyDrive space it makes it even better value.
