landlord insurance - best companies?

I wasn't aware of it. I know of their reputation with the HNW 505 product I mentioned, but didn't know if this carried over into other products too...
No mention of Landlord Insurance on their website, but I may be looking in the wrong place.

I went onto the Zurich website today and I was confused to see conflicting information on there. Really struggled to find a phone number to call for landlord's insurance, so had to call a very generic number. When asked to be put through to speak about landlord's insurance, I was put through but then told these enquiries are only handled via a broker and they wouldn't talk to me. When I asked if they would mind if I asked 1 question, they refused to hear it, and so the call ended.0

I think Zurich only do personal lines business direct. Anything else is available through brokers.0

Maybe, but poor customer service. Essentially what the conversation today amounted to was:
"Hi, I am interesting in buying some of your company's products, boosting your revenue and profitability".
"Go away, I am not going to help you."
You have got to wonder about some people, and some companies. Now if he had said: "Sure, we would be happy to happy to help. Please let me let me take down your details and we will get back to you. We do actually have intermediaries that handle this for us" then fair enough. Even just "please contact company xxx that handles this and they would be happy to help" wouldn't have been too bad.0 -
I've always used Hiscox. Not much more expensive than other companies, but their customer service and payouts are rumoured to be better than most. Not that I've ever had to test it.
You used them for landlord's insurance specifically? I can't find this on their website specifically and found some online posts saying they don't offer this. If necessary I may be able to call them on Wednesday to double check, too late now and Tuesday I won't be able to...
As for Simply Business, I only one review online and it wasn't good, not sure if anyone has any good experiences of actually making a claim or can point to other reviews online.
Or if anyone has any other companies that they would reccomend.0 -
I use http://www.justlandlords.co.uk/ but fortunately have never had to claim so can't comment on that.0

Hi,
I am in the process of renting out my furnished flat and obviously landlords insurance is one of the things on my list to do.
My flat is leasehold from the council so my annual service charge includes building insurance - therefore I only need contents insurance. I have received quotes from directline but they said that their contents insurance would only cover things that weren't fixed in my home...therefore my cooker, hob, kitchen units and bathroom fittings wouldn't be covered as they said these would be covered by buildings insurance. However, my council buildings insurance only covers the exterior and structure of the building... Can anyone advise of companies that will cover all my contents without buildings insurance..? All the quote websites say they can't find anything to match my needs.
Many thanks

The link I gave above for Just Landlords, gives the following £5000 of free contents cover for white goods, curtains, carpets, blinds. £5million propety owner's liability, loss of rent or alternative accommodation, trace & access cover, unauthorised alteration cover, accidental damage to fixed glass, sanitary ware and underground services.
They also do rent guarantee insurance. The landlord insurance cost me £67.53 and is for a leasehold property where I don't need building insurance.0 -
It's not a rumour, they're head and shoulders over the rest of the market
Dacouch, Harpoboy, I called Hiscox today (finally got round to it) and I asked if they did landlord's insurance. They said that they did not. So maybe you would talking about insuring a property you live in and didn't realise the thread was about landlord insurance.0 -
I used Nationwide. And I had to claim for some roof damage. Very easy and great service0
