I rang them yesterday and rejected the new t&c's. The operator then told me that is a new FREE Nectar card, but with half the points. I transferred to that over the phone and am awaiting my new card :)
I too phoned American Express and they told me that they are going to send out another letter, as the first letter did not say there was a choice of switching accounts to a free card which gives reduced points.

Did this a few weeks ago. I rang them a rejected the new card. They then told me I could still have a no-fee card (which is basically the one I already had) BUT I had to re-apply and go through a credit check which I did over the phone. The agent rabbited on about Foursquare ad nauseum. The paper agreement arrived a few days later which I signed & sent back. At the weekend we got a letter saying that it was all approved and we should carry on using our existing cards as normal.

What was the point of all that?? I've had to go through a credit check to basically have nothing change. Complete waste of time.

I got a letter too, but need to rerad it again as I was going out the door to the airport at the time. They said the new account was approved and that I had a new account/ card number. Need to check up what it said about using the same card (which I can do free until November apparently, as that is the anniversary when the fee kicks in).

To clear it up, I asked via their twitter. Its just a soft check.

Ah yes, i've seen it on my letter now that I continue to use my existing card. Confucious

I saw that the account number is the same, with the exception of 20 being added in front, probably to differentiate.

Received my first statement since transferring to the new card. Beware, the minimum payment amounts have changed. Instead of 3% or £5 (whichever is greater) it is now £25 or 2% (whichever is greater). However, my minimum payment this month is £50 on a £150 balance!! I have rung to ask why, but they have no answer for me and can't explain why my repayment is so high. I am wondering if they have levied the £25 annual fee, but can't find any reference on the statement to it. It isn't a problem for me as I only have small balances and pay off every month, but just make sure you check the statement.

I had the same on my statement - minimum payment was £50 and that was on a £65 balance! I wondered if perhaps they had taken what you'd spent when you were on the previous terms.

I usually pay off the balance every month and just use it to get nectar points (as it's an American Express Nectar card) but I did notice the minimum payment of £50, which I thought was a bit odd.

I wonder if it might be better enquiring about Sainsbury's own nectar credit card for nectar points.

After the first 3 months you earn 1 point per £5 spent outside Sainsburys so I really wouldn't bother. That's equivalent to 0.1% cashback!

I have one nectar credit card from amex and two additional cards for my family members. I have not recieved any any email or letter regarding this.

I am looking to keep on on the new system and switch the remaining two either as a fee free card or cancel them completely.

Any ideas the best route of action?
