Nearly April and still no council tax bill!

As yet i have no clue how much i will be paying for 2013/14 Council Tax.

Wirral council seem to be dragging their heels and i think its completely wrong.

How can they leave it so long, in just over a week it is April! I need to know how much i will be paying so i can budget my families single income.

Is any other council in the UK doing this or are we alone?

Ok so they have put it on their website which i admit i didnt know about but it doesnt help me as i am waiting for my HB and CTB letter telling me what, if anything, i am entitled to and also i moved house at the end of February and i still dont know if i owe anything from my old address as ive not received anything.

Its a nightmare not knowing exactly how much i am liable for in just over a week.
I am the sole earner for my family and this REALLY doesnt help me.

Nope, not had mine either, so I called them and apparently even though ours is on the website, they anticipate my CTC & WTC are going up so my income is going up so I can't calculate it and just have to wait for the letter! Ridiculous!

For anyone who has not had their Council Tax bill yet and pays by direct debit at the beginning of the month, it is worth knowing that they are not giving you sufficient notice. Council's know the deadline for getting bills out, and if they miss it, they will usually automatically adjust your payments to start in May. But worth checking and reminding them if they don't adjust the dates.

Edited to add - they have to give you at least 14 days notice of the amount before taking the direct debit payment.

In most LA's, they send out CTB notification letters before April and the HB letters closer to the start of the month. The reasons for this are related to DD for Ctax and closing down the system for 2012/13 and rolling in 2013/14 on some systems.

If you haven't had your letters, ring them and they will be able to tell you your award. If you can't ring, they should be able to help via e-mail?

    We havent had ours either.

I know I could probably see the amounts on the website, but I want my bill before my DD comes out.

Do you have your bill sent online?

I signed up to E-billing with my LA and upon reading the small print it says that I wont receive a bill by post.

Also don't forget you are now entitled to have your payments spread over 12 months. Many Councils do already do this if you ask, but up to now it has been discretionary.

For the very reason that i dont now how much exactly i am liable for i have cancelled my DD, no way are they taking money without me seeing a bill in writing.

Does anyone know what the LA's deadline is for informing you on your new bill when it comes to them taking your first DD of the new tax year?
