To answer your 1st question - yes you can.

But to be honest, why pay? If you have Windows 7 then Avast free (for continuous protection) plus Malware Bytes Anti-Malware free (MBAM, for occasional scans) should be all you need.

Yes, but you can get Microsoft Security Essentials for nowt.

Provided you have a Windows PC that is.
  • Is Microsoft Security Essentials good enough when using PC for internet Banking and buying stuff on-line .

I've used it for years with no problems. I use Internet Banking, shop from Amazon, pay my phone bill, all online and not had any money go missing.

  • My bank gave me AVG free for 6 mts but time is now up .
Just wondering if anything did go wrong would they turn around and say "your not using our recommended security therefore you are in breach of some fine print agreement "

No they wouldn't. They could TRY but they'd have no legal basis for their claim.

Some people like MSE. Others like Avast. Others again like AVG. In the end, to paraphrase the Oracle in The Matrix "You're just going to have to make up your own damned mind". :)
  • Thank you one and all for your help .....I will be using a free version of AVG from now on and so will my sister . cheers
