Further to the whole shebang on Friday, I called my old boss... and have managed to get my old job back. it must be the shortest resignation ever but i've been blinking lucky to be accepted back.
Great news. How long have you worked at the company?
This has happened a few times in the company I work for - people leave and then realise the grass isn't always greener and come back after a few months or years (but no-one has ever come back as quickly as you!)0 -
I know, shortest resignation in history! lol Been with my present company for nearly 4 years, give or take an afternoon of leaving them, and the only reason I was leaving was that this other job was offering me more money.
I was moving to exactly the same line of work, but for £1 more in my hourly rate....
Not a huge increase, and as it turns out, not worth the hassle!!
This has been an experience and a half, and i'm thankful that its turned out in this positive way for me.
Lessons learned - get some savings behind me just in case i ever lose my job.
Always ask for things in writing
and never grumble about a "bad" day at work again, as it really isnt THAT bad at all!!
happy Sundays, and thanks for reading/advice x:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpulsPrincesses wear crowns to remind them that they are beautiful and special because some days its easy to forget. :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls0 -

I hope you delight in telling the other firm what to do with their job offer when your disclosure comes through squeaky clean!

I am so glad that this worked out for OP, but can I say that in my experience - and I spent my whole working life with vulnerable people / children - the job offer is never definite until the disclosure / CRB check is completed.
This is normally made very clear, and should have been (I see above others have different experiences, but wanted to mention mine)
I have been in teams where we wait anxiously for a new member to start work, as we wait for checks to be completed, and then for them to resign & work their notice. It was especially irritating when they were, for instance, registered nurses, so must be up to date with CRB checks, but we had to wait until the new employer had done the search.
I once appointed a lovely lady who had 6 current checks (helper at school, foster carer, Guide leader etc. etc.) but she couldn't work in our team until our NHS Trust had checked her as well!0 -
This is why I always tell people NOT to hand in their notice till they get a written offer of employment which we (nhs trust) only issue when all clearances, references etc are through. Can't tell you how many people who were fab at interview fell at one or other of those hurdles.
I'm glad you got your old job back, what a lucky escape !!Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Hi all..sorry to butt in on this thread..I am currently in the situation of waiting for crb checks to come back on me for a new position ( see my original post.." Have I got a criminal record " ). How can you not hand in your notice first when your current employer has a reference request from your prospective new employer sitting on his desk.0

Has your current employer asked you about it? What about saying 'I have not been formally offerred any alternative job yet' if questioned.Hi all..sorry to butt in on this thread..I am currently in the situation of waiting for crb checks to come back on me for a new position ( see my original post.."
